  • Liam Gallagher starts a band called [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Rain[/lastfm] with mate Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan. The duo is so bad at songwriting that Liam invites his brother Noel Gallagher on board, to which Noel agrees as long as he can be the sole songwriter.
  • Liam then decided that the band should change its name to Oasis.

  • Oasis acquires a record deal with Creation Records.
  • The band releases its début album, Definitely Maybe, to critical acclaim with hit singles like “Supersonic” and “Live Forever.”
  • Definitely Maybe has been certified 7x Platinum in the United Kingdom and sold over 1 million copies in the United States. It continually appears on Best Album lists to date.
  • Oasis books their first American tour with Liam becoming a press favorite by changing the words of his brother’s songs to be offensive.
  • Liam and Noel have one of their first public brawls.
  • Noel leaves the tour.
  • While recording their sophomore album, Liam and Noel get into a huge fight in the studio because of conflict on who would sing lead vocals on certain tracks like “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back In Anger.” Guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs to call Oasis’ management firm and “cancel” the album recording.
  • Three weeks later, the brothers had effectively reconciled to record What’s The Story,  Morning Glory?
