Katy Perry’s Parents Publicly Condemn Her Lifestyle
When she was growing up, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Katy Perry[/lastfm] was allowed to only listen to gospel music. The only book her parents read to her was the Bible. She wasn’t allowed to watch Television. KP once told Vanity Fair, “I didn’t have a childhood.”
It didn’t take; she didn’t wait long to let loose when she signed a record deal with Capitol Records. You can imagine her parent’s disapproval when they heard their daughter on the radio singing, “I kissed a girl, and I liked it.”
Keith Hudson, Katy’s minister father and devout mother Mary plead with their ministry who might find themselves in similar situations with their children: “Don’t be embarrassed. Don’t be ashamed. Listen, we love them. I love Katy. I want everybody to go to heaven, but I want my family most of all. What would heaven be without them? It won’t be the same.”
Mary Hudson (née Perry) took it even a step further once: “We cannot cut her out of our lives as she is our child, but she knows we disagree strongly with what she is doing and the message she is promoting regarding homosexuality, which the Bible clearly states is a sin.”
This doesn’t bode well for Katy and her newest video, “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)” as she transforms from super geek to an ’80s party animal.
