1. Manhattan Cocktail Classic

The Annual Manhattan Cocktail Classic begins today! With over one hundred events spread across five days and five boroughs, the Manhattan Cocktail Classic offers a vast array of unique experiences to enthusiasts and professionals alike, expanding the very definition of what constitutes a “cocktail event”. For more info, check out manhattancocktailclassic.com. It runs through the 17th.

2. Viking Fest 2011

Saturday is Viking Fest 2011! It’s an annual festival that takes place in Bliss/Owl’s Head Park! The Viking ship will be making a special appearance this year, as well as the re-enactors, vendors, rides and games. That starts at noon.

3. Gotham Girls Roller Derby

Saturday is the Gotham Girls Roller Derby! See the Bronx Gridlock take on the Brooklyn Bombshells at the Nat Holman Gymnasium of the City College of New York at 6:30.

4. Bronx Zoo Sleepover

Saturday night is also the Bronx Zoo Sleepover! The whole family gets to pitch a tent and have a picnic dinner on the premises! The package comes with a real-life sea lion wake-up alarm in the morning! And you never know what animal will escape while you’re there!

5. Ninth Avenue International Food Festival

This weekend is the Ninth Avenue International Food Festival. From 37th Street to 57th Street, Ninth Avenue closes to cars and the festival takes over. More than a million people visit the festival each year. It’s unique and amazing, celebrating the joys of ethnicity through food, entertainment and every kind of street fair stall. It’s running from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

6. Taylor Hicks @ City Winery

American Idol alumnus Taylor Hicks will be playing City Winery on Sunday at 8pm.

7. Central Park AIDS Walk

And the annual AIDS walk is happening in Central Park on Sunday as well!

8. Sports!

Also in sports, the Yankees are spending the weekend playing the Red Sox!
