I think when most husbands go food shopping with their wives, getting the things you really NEED is far from what we’re interested in. Just this past weekend, while pushing the shopping cart down the aisle (I ALWAYS have to drive the cart… it’s in our vows!) there they were, boxes and boxes of one of my favorite cereals, Frosted Flakes!
I had not seen or even thought about Frosted Flakes in years, and yet there it was, propelling me back to when I was 7-years-old in my house on 89th Avenue in Bellerose, Queens, diving into a bowl of hi-test rocket fuel for kids!
There was nothing better in the morning than coming all the way down from the attic (that’s where my parents kept me!) running to the closet and diving into a bowl of Frosted Flakes with Tony the Tiger on the box. I must have eaten a ton of them growing up.
It was a bonus if there was some sort of toy at the botom of the box, which you never waited until the cereal box was empty to get. No! Just stick your hand right in there!
As I’ve come to realize, the sugar rush I got was probably why I couldn’t sit still for more than a minute in school, but what did we know then?! I went down the cereal aisle and took note of all the cereals we went thru in a week with the 6 kids in my family.
Check out these pictures… I bet you see one of your favorites!
