Calling all wizards, the Harry Potter exhibit opens TODAY in Times Square! Your invitation has officially arrived New Yorkers. Now is your chance to see the original costumes, props, and sets that made the series such a success! It’s just one of the many things on our checklist of What’s Fresh Around Town for today! Read on to find out what else made the cut…
1. Harry Potter: The Exhibition opens at the Discovery Channel building in Times Square, today. The 14,000-square foot exhibition will include recreations of the Great Hall, Hagrid’s Huts, a dorm room and various other spaces. It will also showcase the intricate costumes and props from the teen wizard movies. The exhibit will be running through the summer and officially ends September 5th.
2. One of Kim’s favorites and Biggest Loser star, Jillian Michaels, will be signing copies of her latest book, Unlimited: How to Build an Exceptional Life. The signing begins at 7PM and will be taking place at Borders in Columbus Circle.
3. Beginning today at 11AM and continuing through Saturday, the NYPD will be conducting a full-scale exercise. This will involve hundreds of personnel from an estimated 150 law enforcement sectors and other first responder agencies in the tri-state region. The exercise is designed to evaluate their combined ability to detect and interdict radiological materials that could be used in a terrorist attack throughout NYC and surrounding areas. The exercise will involve activity in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey.
4. In Sports, the Yankees are playing the Minnesota Twins at 7:05PM. The New Jersey Nets will also be playing a team from Minnesota, the Timberwolves. The Nets game will be taking place today at the Prudential Center. The New York Knicks are playing the Toronto Raptors at 7:30PM, at Madison Square Garden.
