What’s Fresh Around Town: November 12th
The Rockefeller Center tree is being put into place today! It’s just one of the many thing on our list of What’s Fresh Around Town for today and this weekend!
1. The holiday tree at Rockefeller Center will arrive in Midtown early Friday morning in preparation for its Nov. 30 lighting ceremony. This year’s tree will be a 74-foot Norway Spruce that weighs 12 tons and measures 40 feet in diameter, according to officials from Rockefeller Center. The lighting will happen Nov. 30.
2. National Gaming Day play is happening tomorrow at the Mid-Manhattan branch of the NY Public Library. It’s a six-hour event of nothing but Games such as Scrabble, Battleship, Checkers as well as Nintendo’s Wii! There is totally something for everyone. That’s from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
3. For all of you Harry Potter fans, the Quidditch World Cup is happening this weekend at the Dewitt Clinton Fields. More than 50 teams will be attending. Come see chasers, beaters, seekers, and the Snitch! It starts at 8am.
4. And in sports on Sunday, the Giants play the Dallas Cowboys at the New Meadowlands at 4:15 p.m. The Rangers are playing the Edmonton Oilers at Madison Square Garden at 12:30 p.m and after that the Knicks are playing the Houston Rockets at the Garden at 7:30 p.m.
