With the success that [lastfm]Katy Perry[/lastfm] ‘s “California Gurls” has had this summer, I’m sure everyone wants to know where she got the idea from the write the song! Well, according to Katy Perry it’s very simple! She spoke with MTV News and [pullquote quote=”I was a little bit jealous of all the love that was given to the East Coast.” credit=”Katy Perry”]said, “When I came up with the idea of ‘California Gurls,’ it was because I was a little bit jealous of all the love that was given to the East Coast, and I thought for sure [lastfm]Tupac[/lastfm] was rolling in his grave, and the Beach Boys, [lastfm]Brian Wilson[/lastfm] was totally upset.”
She also said that she means no disrespect to her East Coast counterparts and that she loves New York girls, but “when it comes to wintertime, they’re all going to be singing ‘California Gurls.‘”
Let’s just hope that Katy isn’t trying to start another West Coast, East Coast Fued, because that wouldn’t be cool!!
In other Katy Perry News…
Katy Perry’s new album, Teenage Dream hits stores tomorrow and we’re sure that it will probably be one of the best selling albums of the year! Katy told MTV News that she went back home to Santa Barbara, Cali to write the album because she needed to get away from L.A. You may be saying, “Santa Barbara isn’t that far from L.A.!”. You’re right, but Katy said that she needed to get away from her “fast paced life” with can get “exhausting” in L.A.!
