2009 MTV VMAs
The list of performers have been announced for next month’s 2010 MTV Video Music Awards and it looks like we’ll be treated to stellar performances by Ne-Yo, Trey Songz, Emma Stone, Selena Gomez and more.
[lastfm]Kanye West[/lastfm] is also scheduled to hit the stage next month, only one year after he shocked the world by interrupting my girlfriend [lastfm]Taylor Swift[/lastfm] after she won her first award on live television. There should be plenty of hype surrounding that situation heading into this year’s affair.
Here’s a complete list of performers:
[lastfm]Florence + the Machine[/lastfm]
[lastfm]Ne-Yo[/lastfm]
[lastfm]Nicki Minaj[/lastfm]
[lastfm]Drake[/lastfm]
[lastfm]Emma Stone[/lastfm]
[lastfm]Penn Badgley[/lastfm]
[lastfm]Trey Songz[/lastfm]
[lastfm]Selena Gomez[/lastfm]
Additional performers, presenters and a host will be revealed at a later date. Be sure to tune in to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, airing live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12th at 9PM (Live Eastern/Tape delayed Pacific).
Fans can begin voting for specific categories like Best New Artist at VMA.MTV.com today.
The news comes just days after the nominees were revealed, with [lastfm]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] leading the pack with a record-breaking 13 nods. [lastfm]Eminem[/lastfm] follows close behind with eight nominations, including one for Video of the Year for “Not Afraid,” while [lastfm]B.o.B[/lastfm] managed to grab five nods for “Airplanes” featuring [lastfm]Hayley Williams[/lastfm] and “Nothing On You” with [lastfm]Bruno Mars[/lastfm].
[lastfm]Florence + The Machine[/lastfm] said in a statement, “To be performing and nominated at this years VMA’s is completely amazing and especially for the song ‘Dog Days.’ I recorded that song in a cupboard with no instruments and the sound of the drums was me banging my hands on the wall, clacking pens on MPC’s and generally causing a cacophony with anything I could lay my hands on.”
[lastfm]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] previously stated, “I’m so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history. Ironically, I’m even more proud it’s an unlucky number; 13.”
