She may only be 20, but [lastfm]Taylor Swift[/lastfm] will be receiving a very high honor next month. Swift has been chosen as this year’s recipient of the Hal David Starlight Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame gala, which will take place on June 17th in New York City.
The award honors young songwriters that “are making a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs.” Swift has either written or co-written every song on her two multi-platinum albums.
Previous winners include [lastfm]Jason Mraz[/lastfm], [lastfm]Rob Thomas[/lastfm], and the [lastfm]Goo Goo Dolls[/lastfm]’ John Rzeznik.
