Conan O’ Brien may not be able to make appearances on TV until September, but the same can’t be said for his longtime sidekick Andy Richter. Andy sat in for Regis on “Live! With Regis and Kelly,” and for the first time since NBC outed Conan and brought back Jay Leno to “The Tonight Show” we finally get to hear about the whole fiasco from someone straight from Conan’s camp.
Andy joked around with Kelly about the whole ordeal, but also was very honest with how he and the rest of Conan’s Tonight Show staff felt about the way NBC handled the whole situation. When asked by Kelly if he has any ill feelings towards NBC and Leno, Andy bluntly responded “Yes, yes I do. Why wouldn’t I?”
He continued, “I thought, oh, I’ll have time on ‘The Tonight Show,’ that’s as good as it gets. I’m a tenured professor of show business now. I guess I’m really good at getting kicked off the air cause that’s what I’ve been doing for the last 10 years.”
Kelly also addressed the internet rumors of Conan possibility going on tour, to which Andy responded that it is “a distinct possibility” and it would get him out of the house, which his wife would love.
